Locks of Love

Samantha has been wanting to cut her hair for a while. I just wanted it to stay long. I finally let her get it cut. Her father didn't agree as much. Anyway, we decided to look into Locks of Love and see what the requirements were. We decided she could probably do it. So, off we went this afternoon. Here are the before and after photos.

BEFORE

AFTER

After Samantha was done Clarissa thought she could get up there for her turn. So up she went. The cape went on her, she smiled for the camera, and then she got down. It was way cute.

Overheard last night...

I was in the kitchen preparing dinner when I heard Samantha and Tayden talking in the front room.

S- Mommy is going to see Twilight and you are going to Parkers.

T- Where is mommy going?

S- She is going to see a movie.

T- Huh?

S- You don't want to see it. It is scary. It has werewolves.

That about sent me rolling on the ground. No mention of vampires just werewolves. And the werewolves aren't even in this one yet.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Petra!

O.k., so she probably is going to kill me for this but I stole her picture from her website. The reason I did that is because she won't let me take any pictures of her but she thinks it is o.k. to take pictures of me. BUZZZZZZZ!!! Wrong answer. I couldn't go today without giving a shout out to her. So here are all the things I love about Petra:

  • She's an amazing piano player.
  • She is a great cook.
  • She makes me laugh.
  • Petra is the best example to me.
  • She is always positive.
  • She is very beautiful.
  • She lets us in her house even if she is in her pajamas.
  • She is a terrific friend.
  • She also is a WONDERFUL, patient mother.
  • We find more and more things that we have in common. Most of the time we get a good laugh about it too.
  • I know I said she was a terrific friend but I feel lucky and blessed that she moved here so that I can find such a terrific friend like her.
  • Really, there is not one bad thing I can say about her.
I just wanted to wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (Please don't be mad at me for stealing your picture and shouting out your Birthday.) I hope you have a wonderful day!

What Christmas is all about!

Posting this video was inspired by reading a friends blog. With the economy the way it is this year it seems that people may be forgetting what Christmas is all about. Hopefully Linus explains it well for all of us.

Trendsetter

I was debating on whether I should start a new trend yesterday. While I was getting the kids hair done my dear sweet daughter was working on my hair. She thought she did a wonderful job. I think she wanted me to go to church like this as well. I decided I didn't want to have "all eyes on me." I didn't want my amazing beauty to distract from the speakers.

So, after church she was at it again. This is what she came up with this time. I would have left it in but the middle part was pulling on pieces of hair and was hurting.

I think it is fun to have her do my hair. She has been doing it since she was two and we have had a blast with all the different styles she has come up with.

A Moment of Joy

My kids are the greatest. Yes, I am their mother so I can say that. Let me tell you why I think they are so wonderful. Tonight, while I was preparing dinner, Braxton came over and wanted to help. It was potato night so there was nothing to it really. It really wasn't a lot of work. As I was pulling out the cheese Braxton said, "Let me shred that for you mom. You don't need to worry about it." Seriously, that made my heart full of gratitude.

Well since Sammy saw that Braxton was helping she felt the need to help out too. She went and grabbed the plates and put them on the table. She picked up Clarissa and put her in her chair as well.

Even my little Tayden had to get in on the action. He got my attention and said, "Mom, I put watow(water) in your cup." He had such a great big boy smile when he told me that.

I sure love my kids. It really did make my heart full of joy! How can you not feel like you have the best kids after a moment like that!?!?!

Recent Happenings

This morning the oldest two headed off to school again. They have been off for three and a half weeks. My house already feels empty without them. I did have some peace and quiet for a moment and still kind of do. That is why I am here recording some thoughts. One of the kids are still asleep so that is nice for me.

I tried working out this morning right as soon as I got up but I forgot how sick it makes me. So I had to stop and put it on hold until later in the day. It probably was better that way because then I wasn't in a rush to do the kids hair for school and so on and so forth.

Anway, onto something more entertaining. I have had some funny moments with my two little ones lately. So I must share.

Thursday when we were at a grocery store I was fighting with Tayden over who's the "Bomb dot com." Well, of course I had to let him win. Well, on our way home he all of a sudden pipped up and said, "Mom, I know, we can both be the Bomb dot com." Did that not just melt my heart or what!?!?! He was on some kind of kick that day because later we were throwing a little football back and forth to each other and after a while when I caught it I would signal for a touchdown. He got a little frustrated because he wanted to be a winner too. So, I said you catch the ball and you can be a winner. He kept catching the ball and all of a sudden he stops and said, "Mom, we both can be winners." As much as he can drive me crazy at times he sure can make me smile. I sure love that kid.

Onto my Clarissa. She surely is showing her personality and definitely acts like a girl in many different ways. What I love is that everytime Corey and I give each other a hug and kiss she has to come over and we have to pick her up so she can get in on the action too. We sometimes tease the kids because Tayden HATES it when we do that and he comes and pulls us apart. Braxton and Sammy just gag and roll their eyes or they scream. Last night Clarissa spotted us smooching and ran over. We picked her up and held her and gave her tons of smooches. We stopped and all of a sudden she grabs my ear and Corey's face and turns us to each other to make us kiss. It was the funniest thing. We would stop for a second and talk to her and she would do it again. She really cracks me up.

I love my kids so much. There are hard times with them but I wouldn't trade any single one of them for anything. I was so blessed with such beautiful children. I can only thank my Heavenly Father for such blessings.

November Snow

This morning when I got up I opened the back window. The kids totally flipped out. Especially my cute little guy. He was ready to get his boots on and play. Of course breakfast had to come first. After finding boots, coats, and gloves out they went. They are loving it.

Christmas Music

For those of you who have your volume up on your computer you are not mistaken. I already changed my playlist over to Christmas Music. And yes, I already am listening to KOSY 106.5. I will not apologize for this. Christmas music is very soothing to me and it is a must for me this early in the season. Also, if you must know, I was already listening to Christmas music in October. I hope you at least will enjoy my Christmas Mix. :) :) :) :) :) :)

Halloween

We had fun carving a pumpkin Halloween morning. The only ones that ended up actually cleaning out the pumpkin was Samantha and myself. Braxton and Tayden were just posing. I thought Tayden was going to clean it out too but he decided it was too yucky. Braxton took his stab at photography and took a picture or two of me in this post.

We went and visited my Grandpa, their Great Grandpa. Clarissa didn't want to join the group picture so I ended up taking one of the boys and Braxton took one of the girls with Grandpa.

My youngest brothers girlfriend invited us to her work since she was doing face painting. Sammy was the first to jump to do it and wanted a cat on her face. Then Braxton decided it wasn't just for girls and got BYU painted on his hand. I took the next turn and Braxton decided that I should have a bat on my face. Tayden was being a little timid but I talked him into getting BYU painted on his hand like Braxton. As soon as he hopped down Clarissa surprised myself and Katie and climbed up on the chair. We decided to give it a go and see what she would do. She sat there the whole time and let Katie paint a Glass slipper on her cheek. It was so cute. I couldn't believe it. (Oh, Braxton also took the picture of me. ;) ) Thank you for inviting us Katie. The kids loved showing off their art.
